Crash!

This is the tree a bit behind Tiger Pit Cabin in the flats

Not very long ago, early one morning lightning struck at Camp. Scott told me that he was not sure where it had hit for a few days. The lightning had hit this tree located about 15 feet behind Tiger Pit. The tree has a nice scar running down it now.

Through The roots

Roots the lightning traveled through

The lightning traveled down the tree, then through these roots to the metal roof of Tiger Pit. From the room it was able to enter the Cabins power system.

Separated walls

The two walls have been push apart.

On it's way into the power system the lightning tore a chunk of the roof up and Separated the front of the cabin from the right wall.

Power box

The power box was blow out.

The front panel of the power box was blow right off. What remains of the box has been twisted out of shape. The lightning continued running through the power system blowing the lid of connection box in the groud a few feet infront of the cabin.

The old cabins power system is disconnected but since it runs near the new system the lightning was able to get into the new system. It destroyed the water heater (sorry no pictures), ruined a modem, melted phone plugs, messed up the circuit breakers in at least one of the new cabins and thats not all.

Punctured gas line

The gas line has been dug up for repair

The lightning manged to also cause a leak in the gas line that supplies the shower house. The line has now been dug up for repairs.
